Jeff Robertson: Jeff will focus on the fundamentals and basics of jiu jitsu. Having 25 years of law enforcement experience, Jeff is able to apply jiu jitsu to self-defense situations for the average person, as well as the tactical situations that may be faced by law enforcement personnel. Jeff's private lesson will start with a consultation on the student's goals and objectives. The class will be tailored for the student's specific needs, and will typically consist of a warm-up using movement and stretches, basic techniques and drills followed by sparring with a resisting opponent.
Glayton Melo: Glayton’s style centers around effective transitions, fluid sweeps, and quick submissions. His favorite techniques include dynamic movement from butterfly guard and x-guard, attaining back control, and submissions with chokes, wrist and arm locks. Private lessons would be based on the student’s choice of techniques and level of ability. The class will include a technique-specific warm-up, several drills that can be practiced alone or with a partner in the future, attention to the details of the techniques that enable success, application of the perfected techniques during a live roll, and a cool-down.
Tony Licari: Tony focuses primarily on the competitive (also known as the sport) side of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Private lessons start by establishing a core game for the student. This foundation is then strengthened by adding "tournament ready" techniques and concepts tailored to that student's strengths. Lessons focus on establishing a useful context and understanding of one position or concept.
It is well known that building jiu jitsu proficiency is a long road. Even though techniques can be acquired relatively quickly, learning how to apply them on a fully resisting opponent takes longer to achieve. As such, students often encounter specific problems that require targeted focus from an experienced instructor. With this in mind, Devine Jiu Jitsu Charleston is happy to now offer private lessons at the gym! While jiu jitsu private lessons are often very costly ($100 or more), our goal is to offer them at a rate that will allow more students to enjoy the benefits of one-on-one coaching. We welcome students of all ages, levels and affiliations.Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or use the button below to book now!
Michael Sanda: Sanda's private lesson consists of a prior consultation to determine focus area for lesson, a diagnostic roll to improve rolling performance, followed by technique instruction. His specializations include pressure passing and armlocks from side control, as well as half guard.
Daniel Theodore: In Dan's classes, students may choose to focus on any combination of grappling, combative self-defense, striking/kickboxing, or takedowns and throws. Daniel specializes on heavy top position riding, rare submissions and leglocks. He also specializes in leghook/Williams guard, and 10th planet-style lockdown half guard techniques that are more suited for dealing with strikes.
